I found the sun in a flower
Bright giclée print on heavyweight archival matte paper. Each print has a white border to allow for framing. The original is 18×24" in size and was created using acrylics on canvas. Printed to order. Each print takes 2-3 weeks to ship. Prints larger than 8x10 are shipped rolled.
I created this painting as the first piece I ever sent out for my Print Club. The idea for both the painting and the Club came to me in the spring, after a dark winter I thought would never end. It felt as though the city had suddenly transformed; all the muddy patches I passed on my commute were now filled with daffodils. The flowers grew on hedges and spilled from people's balconies. Some were completely golden, while others had creamy shells with warm yolk-colored centers — like little droplets of sun. I knew I wanted my first Print Club painting to be about daffodils.
I’ve always felt that spring is the true beginning of the year. The natural transformation that takes place feels enchanted and powerful. This spring especially, I felt as if I were walking into a new life. The arch or doorway in this painting symbolizes that movement and energetic shift. The daffodils rest in the threshold, neither here nor there, illuminated by the portal they inhabit.
